Just a stonesthrow from the Pechtlgut guesthouse is a diverse trekking region that even crosses the Austrian border to bring together the Lofer Steinberge mountains, the Berchtesgaden Alps and the Kitzbühel Alps. Hike from one region to another – or even cross the Austrian/German border. This is possible because Lofer is located near the three-regionborder between Salzburg, Tyrol and Berchtesgaden.

Our qualified child minders give your kids a chance to take their first steps on the climbing wall. There are plenty of more advanced challenges for experienced climbers in the climbing parks and on the via ferratas of Weißbach, a village tuned to the needs of mountain climbers. Pechtlgut apartments are in the three-region area in which Salzburg shares its border with Tyrol and Berchtesgaden and gives mountain bikers access to the Northern Limestone Alps, Lofer Steinberge mountains, Berchtesgaden Alps and Chiemgau Alps, as well as mountains at the end of the Kitzbühel Alps. Not everyone wants to experience the rarefied atmosphere of summit altitudes on a bike tour. Fortunately, our bike region is also particularly well-suited to the needs of individuals and families who enjoy sport on a recreational level. There are countless interesting and idyllic cycle tours alongside the River Saalach with plenty of opportunities to stop off for a break, refreshments or a meal on the way.

If you’re looking to take it easy, the cycling routes in Saalachtal valley and on the Tauernradweg cycle path take you from village to village – at your pace – as far as you want to go.
Start at your front door at Pechtlgut and join the cycle path network in any one of three directions: Go south – to Zell am See, west – to the neighbouring province of Tyrol, or north-east – in the direction of Salzburg.
The landscape of the area has been starkly formed by the Saalach, a 103-km alpine river very popular with water sports enthusiasts. Saalachtal valley lies in the province of Salzburg and is well-known for its abundance of water: lakes, rivers, waterfalls, wild gorges and ravines.
The River Saalach is a paradise for kayakers and the river snakes its way down the valley past stunning mountain scenery. There are lots of sections that require great skill and expertise.
Conditions are fantastic here for beginners through to world champions. There is also some great rafting, canyoning, HydroSpeed sport to be enjoyed in these waters, for an exciting and unique experience. Lofer is on the map of every serious white-water enthusiast.

We have crystal clear water with temperatures ranging from 12°C in the Kneipp baths to 36° Celsius in the nearby thermal spa centre at Rupertus Therme Bad Reichenhall.
Swimmers of all ages will have lots of fun at Steinbergbad Lofer with a free-flowing stream and a large water slide. This attraction is both free, and can be easily reached in just 2 minutes on foot from Pechtlgut.
